Racial Equity
The Center for States is committed to promoting racial equity, recognizing intersectionality, and reducing disparities for children, youth, and families of color in child welfare.
To support child welfare agencies in advancing equity, the Center for States offers products and events that encourage ongoing conversations, share promising practices, and promote action steps. The Center partners with states and jurisdictions in examining data, assessing organizational needs, and developing strategies to address disproportionality and disparities among populations that have been marginalized. By pairing racial equity principles with change and implementation approaches, the Center helps child welfare audiences take intentional steps toward more equitable programs and practices. Throughout its products and services, the Center emphasizes diversity and inclusion, recognizes intersectionality, and raises the voices of youth and families with lived expertise.
Recognizing that this work requires ongoing learning and adaptation, the Center is on its own journey to explore racial equity issues and identify areas for improvement.
