Child Welfare Information Systems
Child welfare information systems are a critical tool to help support management and tracking of child welfare programs and effective delivery of services to children and families. These systems support the collection and maintenance of data used for federal reporting and help measure the effectiveness of child welfare programs.
The goal of the Center for States is to build capacity in state and territorial child welfare programs in the use of automated child welfare information systems. Strategies include helping states and territories improve collaboration between program and information technology systems; improving data quality, extraction, and analysis; and encouraging information exchanges and interoperability among human services information systems.
