Elliott Hinkle

As a National Young Adult Consultant at the Center since 2014, Elliott Orrin Hinkle (they/them) works on developing training, resources, and community partnerships in child welfare. Their work includes training new consultants, providing technical assistance to states, presenting webinars and curriculum, and representing the Center at child welfare-related events.
Hinkle is a consultant at JBS International, where they work on the National Youth in Transition Database. Since 2014, they have been a trainer for Youth Thrive and recently were certified to train on Youth Thrive for Youth. In the past, Hinkle served as Commissioner and Vice Chair to the Oregon Governor’s Child Foster Care Advisory Commission, as well as working as a My Life coach and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) specialist on the PDX-Connect team at New Avenues for Youth. Later, they worked at the Regional Research Institute at Portland State University (PSU) as a coach on the My Life and Better Futures. Hinkle now serves as the Youth/Young Adult Coordinator for Oregon Healthy Transitions at PSU.
Elliott Hinkle is an alumnus of the Wyoming foster care system, where they advocate for the child welfare, mental health, and the LGBTQ populations. They graduated from PSU in June 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Women, Gender, Sexuality, and Queer Studies.
